About My Process
I design and create functional pottery for everyday use. I focus on a contemporary style which I achieve using porcelain clay and clean simple lines in my pieces. In finishing my work I use satin/matte glazes in neutral colours. To add visual interest I like to decorate with textured grooves, splashes of vivid colour and overlapping glazes.
To combine my love of clay and wood, my husband and I collaborate with some of my pieces. He creates hand turned cherry wood lids for my ceramic canisters. Our latest and most exciting collaboration is combining ceramic pendant lampshades with hand turned pieces of wood fitted to the top of the shade that the wiring passes through. There is also a turned wooden face plate that accompanies the lamp.
All wood pieces are hand crafted by my husband David McLachlan.
